Sausalito Art Festival
Who: Sausalito Art Festival
When: September 1–3, 2018
Where: The Sausalito waterfront
What: The Sausalito Art Festival’s 66th edition.
About The Sausalito Art Festival:
This year’s festival took place on a pleasantly sunny Labor Day Weekend, attracting over 24,000 visitors. Celebrating the richness of the North Bay’s art scene and beyond, the festival featured creative and beautiful works from over 250 artists from across the country. Art on display included craft art such as jewelry, woodwork and ceramics, fine arts such as painting, sculpture, and photography; and some exciting uses of new media, including digital art and 3D mixed media pieces.
The festivities kicked off with an extravagant opening night gala themed around cabaret and the legendary Moulin Rouge, and ended for the first time with an after party, which was a hit and completely sold out. Big musical names graced the festival stages, crowned by the funky and fun music of George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic on Saturday night.
The festival’s organizers, the Sausalito Art Festival Foundation, is partly volunteer-run, and is very active in the local community. Proceeds from the festival go to the local arts community and sponsor initiatives such as Artists Teaching Art. Attracting Sausalito locals, people from around the Bay Area and beyond, it was a weekend not be missed.
