MVFF Closing Night Party and Showing of "Suffragette"

Suffragette tells the story of women who were foot soldiers in the fight for the right to vote in the early 20th century. In the film Carey Mulligan plays Maud, a laundry worker since childhood who joins the evolving suffrage movement in hopes of breaking the cycles of injustice, poverty, and abuse that so many women endure. She is guided by Edith (Helena Bonham Carter) and inspired from afar by the charismatic Mrs. Pankhurst (Meryl Streep).

After the film guests are invited to come to Terrapin Crossroads for the closing party which will feature the genre-melding Monophonics to enjoy their iconic blend of funk, soul, blues, and rock—and a sensational cover of Sonny Bono’s “Bang Bang.” Additional music will be provided by the Crackerjack DJs.
