At this year's International Knarr Championship, sailors from Denmark and Norway traveled to the San Francisco Yacht Club in Tiburon to compete against U.S. skippers in a weeklong regatta, which is rotated each year among the three countries. The week's highlights included a performance by Sons of the Beach, a singing group composed of locals who perform at Knarr events. American Chris Perkins and the 2006 defending champion from Denmark, Soren Pehrsson, fiercely pursued first place, but after the week's races Perkins came out on top by just two points. At the grand opening of the new Kiehl's store in the Westfield Centre, Grammy Award-winning singer Joss Stone and Kiehl's vice president of sales Ed Fox were on hand to announce the company's partnership with VH1 Save the Music Foundation. Ark Row was the place to be for the first annual Tiburon Art Festival. San Francisco Chronicle art critic Kenneth Baker and Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco's European art curator, Dr. Lynn Federle Orr, selected the contemporary art for the festival, which also featured live music by Katie Knipp, Gumbo West Band and Mindy Canter. The launch party, at the San Francisco Yacht Club, welcomed the selected artists and Marinites, giving them a chance to mingle over cocktails while taking in views of the city.
