Great Chefs of Marin

A black-tie crowd gathered at Fireman's Fund in Novato for an evening of auctions and dancing to support Lifehouse, which serves people with developmental disabilities. The Great Chefs of Marin event raised over $300,000 for the nonprofit.

Lark Theater Youth Film Festival

Larkspur Mayor Dan Hilmer gave out the awards to the winners of the 4th annual Lark Theater Youth Film Festival. The students pictured above won the award for best narrative film in the 10-to-13 year old category for "Mortal."

Get Together and Give

The Village at Corte Madera partnered with Image for Success, the National Charity League and Project Green Prom for "Get Together and Give." The event welcomed over 100 Marin moms and daughters to stuff 500 care kits for Image for Success clients.

YES Foundation Gala

Over 675 guests raised money to support music, art and drama programs from San Anselmo and Fairfax public grade schools at the Ross Valley School District’s annual YES Foundation Gala at the Marin Civic Center. Guests, including superintendent Robyn Dabora and Wade Thomas principal Bryce Sumnick enjoyed the "British Invasion" theme, which featured the band "The Unauthorized Rolling Stones."

CIP's Rock n' Rodeo

Community Institute for Psychotherapy welcomed guests to a Rock n' Rodeo at Inn Marin in Novato. The event was complete with Mistress of Ceremonies Jan Wahl leading line dancing to country favorites. Proceeds will support low-fee mental health services for Marin families, children and adults.

Marin Services for Women's 7th Annual Benefit Dinner

Over 260 people attended the Marin Services for Women's 7th Annual Benefit Dinner "Weaving the Vision" at the Mill Valley Community Center. The evening raised $107,000 for the nonprofit, which for over 30 years has provided chemical dependency recovery services and trauma treatment.

Paul Smith Grand Opening

Locals came out for the grand opening of the new Paul Smith store in downtown San Francisco. True to all Paul Smith shops worldwide, the interior of the Geary Street location was designed by Paul Smith and his team and is a mix of mid-century modern and traditional turn-of-the-century design. Enter on the Maiden Lane entrance to catch a look at the collection of Smith’s own art, objects and fan mail.

A Grand Affair with Gilbert & Sullivan

The San Francisco League of the San Francisco Symphony presented a black-tie-and-costume dinner dance, A Grand Affair with Gilbert & Sullivan, in the Garden Court of the Palace Hotel. Proceeds from the event benefit the community and education programs of the symphony.

Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center

Recently, director Joe Wright brought his latest film, The Soloist, to the Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center, for a special preview screening. The crowd was treated to a question-and-answer session by Joe Wright, who told the audience, “This is one of my favorite cinemas in the world. There is nothing like it anywhere.”

Gump’s CEO Marta Benson and curator Natasha Boas invited guests for drinks to celebrate the launch of Gump’s new Eau de Parfum Baroque Pearl and to see the gallery opening of Pearl: Inspiring Design and Desire.

The Redwoods Retirement Community in Mill Valley recognized 17 individuals from Marin and Sonoma counties, including students and teachers, and the Marin County Search and Rescue Team for outstanding public service during its 17th annual Celebration of Service Awards program at the Mill Valley retirement community.

Recently, local designer Lisa Alexander previewed her new children’s line, Spike and Annie, and donated a portion of sales from the event to Pets Unlimited. The line focuses on using eco-friendly materials and has a resort-style feel.

The first NightLife event at the California Academy of Sciences was a success with more than 3,000 people in attendance. The Thursday night events feature music, science, food and cocktails and are open to those 21 and over.

San Anselmo’s newest culinary destination, Marinitas, celebrated its opening in grand style with a benefit for Adopt a Family of Marin. Chef Heidi Krahling's fame extends to her other restaurant San Anselmo's Insalata's.

Marin Arts Fund Brunch

Marin Arts Council hosted its annual Marin Arts Fund Brunch in San Rafael, where individuals and arts received grants totaling $45,000. The Marin Arts Fund provides direct monetary support to artists for assistance in advancing their careers and grants to artists and groups who partner for community based projects.

DSCC Reception

Local Shefali Razdan Duggal, who most recently was active in then-Senator Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, posed with Senator Bob Menendez, chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, at a DSCC reception in SF.

The authors of Ross, California: the People, the Places, the History, photographed above with Nancy Vernon, gave Vernon a check for $10,000 (a portion of the proceeds from their book) for the general support of the Marin Art and Garden Center.

Red Cross Gala

More than 400 guests attended the American Red Cross Paint the Town Red Gala at San Francisco City Hall. Guests enjoyed the live auction with items such as a private dance lesson with MC Hammer and silent auction items including “celebrity survival kits” donated by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Harry Denton, Gary Danko and others.
