Meet the Architects - Dwell+Marin Magazine Home Tour

RSVP Hot Ticket | Guests enjoyed wine and hors d'oeuvres from All Seasons Catering at Mill Valley’s Acqua Hotel April 29 before listening to presentations from architects specializing in modern design. The event kicked off the first ever Dwell+Marin Magazine home tour held over the weekend.

2011 Kiddo Spring Gala

RSVP Hot Ticket | The 2011 Kiddo! Spring gala took place at the Mill Valley Community Center. The evening was a huge success complete with fabulous food, wine, live music and a very successful auction. Event proceeds benefit arts programs for Mill Valley Schools.

Private Ocean

In keeping with the holiday spirit of giving, Private Ocean provided tickets and transportation for residents of AlmaVia San Rafael’s assisted senior living community to attend the San Francisco Nutcracker Suite.

KIPP Bay Area Schools

Over 350 guests enjoyed the 5th annual San Francisco Social, which raised money to benefit KIPP Bay Area Schools, a network of private college preparatory schools for underprivileged children.

Tutu School

Tutu School gathered its dancers and their families for an annual celebration at its Marin Country Mart location. The party included delicious treats catered by Sweet Peony, arts and crafts and a special appearance by the Sugar Plum Fairy.

Global Green USA

Global Green USA celebrated its sixth annual Gorgeous and Green benefit party at the LEED-certified W Hotel. Co-chaired by Marin’s Zem Joaquin and Nadine Weil, the event raised nearly $300,000 to benefit Global Green’s initiatives, including its groundbreaking work to create green affordable housing and schools for low-income families.

Marin Food Bank

Recently, 20 Bank of Marin employees volunteered at the Marin Food Bank, packing hundreds of food boxes. Bank of Marin also presented a $5,000 check to the nonprofit.

Marin Brain Injury Network

The Marin Brain Injury Network celebrated its 25th anniversary with an event to support the Karen G. Schurig Scholarship Fund, which will help those living with brain injuries and their families.

Gene Hiller's American Cancer Society benefit

Recently, Sausalito’s Gene Hiller boutique held its annual party benefiting the American Cancer Society. Guests were treated to a fashion show, fabulous food and drinks and music from Italian tenor Pasquale Esposito.

Angel Lights Benefit - Fifth Annual

At the fifth annual Angel Lights Benefit, guests enjoyed live music, an auction and this season’s first lighting of the island’s angel light. The event, which was held at the Corinthian Yacht Club in Tiburon, supported the Angel Island Association and Angel Island State Park.

Marin Country Mart's Malia Mills

At Marin Country Mart's Malia Mills swimwear location, designer Malia and her partner (and sister) Carol were on hand to celebrate the holiday season with clients and help them pick out the perfect swimsuit.

Meals on Wheels of San Francisco

At a sold-out event, guests dined on chef Heidi Krahling's creations and enjoyed a concert by Michelle Schmitt to benefit Meals on Wheels of San Francisco. Proceeds from Schmitt's Christmas on Pine Mountain holiday CD benefits the charity.

Jewelry by the Bay's Holiday Party

At Jewelry by the Bay's holiday party guests were treated to wines by Louis Latour, special jewelry offerings and a raffle that included lucky winners Jan Waal and Arlene Miller.

Sudha Sale

The Seventh Annual Sudha Sale was recently held at the 23 Throckmorton in Mill Valley. The sale, which featured one-of-a-kind jewelry, scarves, and decorative items designed by Tiburon's Sudha Pennathur, benefited Bread and Roses and The Redwoods Retirement Community.

SkinSpirit Opening

Mill Valley’s Strawberry Village welcomed SkinSpirit with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and almost 400 guests. The SkinSpirit founders, doctors and the team of aesthetic nurse specialists welcomed guests as they walked the red carpet, toured the new facility, and observed demonstrations of the latest anti-aging treatments.

Sausalito Bridal Services

Lili Shahabi teamed up with other Marin business owners for a bridal photo shoot highlighting Sausalito Bridal Services. Lili, who is a master colorist and creates bridal styles at her Sausalito shop Lili S. Salon, joined forces with photographer Sasha Georgeson, event organizer Bianca Velishek, Marin’s Star Model Management, Starlet Bridal gowns, makeup artist Sharon Herbert, and venue locations Ondine and Inn Above Tide to bring attention to Sausalito wedding options.

Eat, Pray, Love and Yoga

At Don Santa’s Kentfield estate, 150 people attended, Eat, Pray, Love and Yoga, a benefit for the Faith and Love orphanage in Haiti. Besides plenty of downward dogs on Santa’s lawn, the inspiring event also raised $10,000.

Private Ocean

Wealth management group Private Ocean participated in a community service project benefiting the St. Vincent De Paul Dining Hall in San Rafael. Employees made bag lunches for St. Vincent’s Feed the Homeless program. The volunteer project is an annual event for Private Ocean, celebrating the Thanksgiving season.

San Francisco Garden Club's 84th birthday

The San Francisco Garden Club kicked off its 84th birthday with a Haute Hats benefits at the Four Seasons Hotel. Honorary chairs and Marinites Charlotte Shultz and Lucy Buchanan were in attendance while past president and Belvedere resident Lisa Harris walked the runway.

Frank Howard Allen: The First Hundred Years

Almost 400 agents from Frank Howard Allen celebrated the real estate agency's centennial anniversary in Novato with a historical slide show and a book-signing of the commemorative publication Frank Howard Allen: The First Hundred Years.

Women's Council of Realtors

At the second annual Women's Council of Realtors Marin chapter bocce ball tournament, which benefited Homeward Bound, the "Bada Bing Boys" took home the first-place honors.

Angels by the Bay

Recently, the Marin Center for Independent Living held its annual fundraiser, Angels by the Bay, at the Corinthian Yacht Club in downtown Tiburon. Hundreds of guests enjoyed wine tasting, auctions and lunch to support MCIL’s mission of serving older adults and individuals with disabilities. The event raised over $120,000.

San Francisco Opera Season Opener

The San Francisco Opera Season Opener at the historic War Memorial Opera House began with Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida. The opening-night festivities included the Opera Guild’s Opera Ball, cochaired by Marin’s Mary Poland and Charlot Malin. The event raises funds for San Francisco Opera and San Francisco Opera Guild’s education programs.

RCP Tiburon Sprint Classic

Dream Team members from the University of California, Berkeley tested the waters in preparation for the RCP Tiburon Sprint Classic, the one mile race from Angel Island to Tiburon. Proceeds from the event benefit USA Swim Foundation and Hospice by the Bay.

Hospice by the Bay

Recently, Hospice by the Bay celebrated the opening of two new counseling rooms with a rainbow ribbon-cutting ceremony. The rooms, which were designed and dedicated by Barbara Meislin, Tiburon’s “Purple Lady” are dedicated to children coping with the loss of a loved one.

In Defense of Animals Benefit

In San Rafael, guests gathered at the In Defense of Animals benefit to raise proceeds for the group’s efforts. Guests dined on vegan fare and sipped wine from Frey Vineyards.
