Sound Summit

Can you imagine a better place to spend your time than at a 4,000-seat natural stone amphitheater on top Mount Tam with killer Bay views? We didn’t think so. Well, this weekend you have an opportunity to enjoy the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Dr. John and The Nite Trippers, The Mother Hips, Portland Cello Project and the recently announced special guest Bob Weir in that precise setting. “As its name implies, Sound Summit is an intentional double-entendre – at once a musical gathering and an image of a strong and whole peak,” says 2013’s Mount Tam Jam executive producer who is also in charge of things this year, Michael Nash. “One exists to help sustain the other,” he adds. Supported by Mount Tamalpais State Park, Sound Summit’s goal is to raise funding and awareness for the mountain’s needs. The event also emulates Tam Jam’s spirit and intention to create an annual celebration of the mountain. “We feel Sound Summit is a well-wrought, creative and dynamic gesture of support for a very special place in the neighborhood,” says Nash. “It is as much a community spirit as it is a community event."
