5 Best Things to do This Week: June 3–10
Hand-picked events and happenings you won't want to miss.

Novato Festival of Art, Wine and Music
The Novato Art and Wine Festival will be held in downtown Novato, between Redwood boulevard and 7th street this Saturday and Sunday. Starting at 10am, come out and peruse the numerous booths filled with uncommon finds, artwork, apparel and jewelry. There will be plenty of food options to keep you energized while you browse, from kabobs and corn dogs to calamari and pulled pork sandwiches. The 21 and over crew can find an assortment of local wines and beers throughout the fest, including Novato’s award winning micro-brewery, Moylan’s — all drinks can be purchased in a souvenir glass, but remember to bring cash as the wine and beer booths alcohol booths do not take cards. Kids aren’t left out either. The kid’s area includes interactive art projects, a climbing wall, train rides, petting zoo, bounce house, jumbo slides, dunk tank, and slot car racing.
Outdoor French Market
Listen to live French music, grab a tasty crêpe, greet your favorite exhibitor with “Bonjour”, and come home with a keeper or two this Sunday. This popular antique market brings together shoppers, treasure hunters, collectors, decorators, and dozens of quality vendors with booths filled to the brim with great bargains and unique collectibles. Whether you are a passionate antique enthusiast, a collector of vintage oddities, or redecorating, the market will not let you down — with its unique mix of repurposed vintage furnishings, up-cycled architectural salvage, estate and vintage jewelry, retro décor, cottage chic, textured linens, historical maps, tempting ephemera and more.
SF Indie DocFest
The 18th annual San Francisco Documentary Film Festival (SF DocFest) will be taking place through June 13 in theaters throughout the city. SF DocFest will screen acclaimed documentary feature and short films from around the world at the Roxie Theater, Brava Theater, and 518 Gallery in San Francisco. Local films will be shown, as well, including Marin-resident Liz Canning’s feature Motherload about switching to a cargo bike lifestyle. Another local film, also about transport, Uberland, takes a look at San Francisco Uber drivers struggling to make a living being contract workers.
Bouquets to Art
Bouquets to Art returns this June with a fresh palette of summer blooms to seed new life in the de Young’s permanent collection. For one week only, from June 4 to June 9, 115 of the region’s most innovative and sought-after floral designers converge at the museum to showcase dazzling works inspired by the museum’s paintings, sculptures, objects, and architecture. During the annual floral takeover, the galleries are adorned with elegant and elaborate arrangements, including a large-scale hanging aerial piece taking over Wilsey Court, the heart of the de Young museum. While the galleries are in bloom, the de Young also hosts a series of stylish luncheons, lectures, and pop-up discussions by renowned floral experts from around the world. Now in its 35th year, this weeklong event launches on Monday, June 3, with an Opening Night Gala during which guests have the opportunity to get an early look at the arrangements while enjoying both visual and culinary delights, including floral fashions designed by students from City College of San Francisco for whom the museum becomes a runway. Guests may also participate in an on-site raffle to receive luxury goods and services.
